ANNUAL DINNER & PUB QUIZ

Broughton Gifford Bowls Club held its Annual Dinner on Friday evening, 6th February, at the North Wilts Bowls Club, Chippenham. The six-rink indoor bowling green and facilities rank among the finest in the country and are much enjoyed by the North Wilts members and visitors alike. The venue is further enhanced with a well-stocked bar selling a good selection of beers, spirits, wines and non-alcoholic drinks. A spacious open plan area is set aside to accommodate a restaurant which serves a varied menu of hot food. It has proven to be a great alternative to the many culinary options within the locality and beyond. The food is reliably prepared to the highest standard and properly hot when served at the table.
The members were given a choice of three courses from the menu which were ordered in advance. Each course had a selection of four distinct items to choose from.
Right on cue, the members were shown the way to the restaurant with its suitably sized round tables seating up to eight individuals, which proved ideal for an evening of light-hearted conversation and laughter. Spirits were high as the annual gathering of members for the dinner proved to be a lovely way to spend time together. There was ample space between the tables, and the relaxed ambience of the spacious room was extremely pleasant.
The dishes were served bearing generous sized portions of delicious-looking fare which were delivered efficiently and on time by a well-organized staff.
Afterwards when making comparisons of their various dishes the members’ comments included “mouth-watering” melted in the mouth” “savoury” “quite superb” “tender” “delicious fish” “beyond my powers of description” and much, much more. The post-meal smiles summed up what a memorable evening and special occasion it had been.
With the evening drawing to its conclusion Club Chairman Mr. Peter Rigby offered words of thanks to those who were engaged in organizing the event and the catering staff for their excellent care and attention throughout the evening. He went on to thank the members for attending and making the evening a success. Club Captain Richard Mizen was then upstanding to extend words of appreciation to the Chairman and the members. Acknowledgement and recognition were referenced to the good turnout of members that attended the January pub quiz at the ‘Fox’ which helped raise funds for the club. An enjoyable evening was had by all on a very sociable gathering in which the Bowls Club gave a very good account of themselves finishing well up in the quiz final standings.
